The story behind the weave

Paithani takes its name from Paithan, an ancient town on the banks of the Godavari in Maharashtra, where this weave has been practised for some two thousand years. Patronised by the Satavahana rulers and later treasured by the Peshwas, the Paithani is famous for its peacock (mor) and lotus motifs and its richly woven zari pallu – and it is still the saree Maharashtrian brides cherish most.

Care: Dry clean only. Store folded in a soft muslin or cotton cloth, away from direct sunlight and damp; refold every few months so the zari does not crease. Avoid spraying perfume or deodorant directly on the fabric.

To preserve the beauty and quality of your saree, dry cleaning is recommended. Avoid soaking, bleaching, or using harsh detergents. Dry in shade and keep away from direct sunlight. Iron on low heat, preferably from the reverse side. Store neatly in a cool, dry place.
