The story behind the weave

Ikat comes from a Malay word meaning 'to tie' – yarns are tied and dyed before weaving to create its signature soft-edged motifs. In India the craft thrives in Odisha, Telangana's Pochampally and Gujarat; this saree brings that motif language onto modern, shimmering tissue.
