Product Description

Glowing tissue meets classic Paithani design in this saree, made to catch the light at every celebration. This piece comes in Badami (Almond) & Green. Green is fresh, auspicious and festive – lovely for mehendi, pujas and daytime celebrations.

The story behind the weave

Paithani takes its name from Paithan, an ancient town on the banks of the Godavari in Maharashtra, where this weave has been practised for some two thousand years. Patronised by the Satavahana rulers and later treasured by the Peshwas, the Paithani is famous for its peacock (mor) and lotus motifs and its richly woven zari pallu – and it is still the saree Maharashtrian brides cherish most. This piece reimagines that legacy on shimmering tissue.
